Gus and Marty

The kids and I have an ongoing fictitious adventure story based on the pigeons we have in our backyard.  We started with two pigeon friends, Gus and Marty. The kids and I enjoy watching for the pigeons and telling fun stories about their bird lives.  Well, recently we noticed that two of the pigeons in our backyard were doing a little "courting" dance, so introduce to the story....Ginger.  We witnessed Ginger being fought over by Gus and Marty (true story).  Ginger has been in our back garden tree busily building a nest the past couple days.  Today when we were out doing some lawn work Ginger was actually sitting in her nest and let us go very near and look at her. We were so close that the kids and I could touch her if we wanted to.  The kids loved it.  Some may call them flying rats, but I must say this is pretty fun to watch them and to witness this up close and personal.
