The Searight's New Adventure

Hello Everyone,

We wanted to let everyone we know in on some truly exciting news.  Just recently Drs. Ron Frost and Peter Mead invited David to become a member of the mentor team at Cor Deo as a mentor-in-training.  We’ve accepted their invitation and are thrilled about the out-of-this-world opportunity and for the endless potential it means for our ministry in the future.

You might be asking, what is Cor Deo?  Well in a nutshell, Cor Deo is a life-on-life, heart-to-heart training program that desires to multiply believers “after God’s own heart.” Cor Deo follows Jesus’ model of formation, study, and ministry in the context of a mentored team.   So Bible, theology, and ministry are not subjects or theories just studied, but an experience shared together.  Participants also get to join the mentors in their varied ministries that build up the church in the UK and overseas.

Wait! Did you just say the UK?  Yes, we are headed back to the UK!  We didn’t think God would be taking us back to the island for a long time—if ever. Cor Deo functions out of Chippenham England, which is 100 miles west of London.  Its located in the UK for numerous reasons, but the biggest is need.  The UK, despite its storied Christian heritage, is in desperate need for a training program that has a high view of Scripture and a deep love for God.

How’s this going to happen?  None of the mentors are salaried by Cor Deo but are supported by other ministries.  We will join the Meads as members of Operation Mobilisation (www.om.org).  We’ll be official members of OM after "Outbound" (a weeklong training conference) in Atlanta at the end of September.  Please pray for us as we leave Jayelle and Everett behind at home with their grammy.  It will be a great week for us, but a longtime away from our precious children.  Once we are members we will able to start to develop our team of prayer and financial partners.

When will all this happen?  Cor Deo’s full-time five-month program begins on January 22, 2013.  We desire to be in country at least a couple weeks before this date in order to settle into our new home before the ministry begins. There’s not too much time and a lot needs to happen, your thoughts and prayers are coveted!

How do I get more information? We will have more information after Outbound and will begin to send out our newsletter.  If you would like to receive our newsletter please contact us by email or call at (541) 701-5209. If you can’t wait and want even more info check out www.cordeo.org.uk, its worth taking a look at.  We would love to hear for you!

Blessings,

David, Erin, Jayelle (2008), Everett (2010), and Elliot (2012) Searight
