One of my friends here has challenged me to think of words-phrases that I will be taking back to the States with me. So here is the list thus far:
1. Keen- my Mom says keen a bunch, but it usually is "I am not too keen on this or that." I am going to now include the positive side of keen. i.e. I am keen to go shopping!
2. Daft- yesterday, I started a sentence by saying "Is he that" And then I stopped before I said the word because I didn't want to sound too British, but Dave without skipping a beat or knowing what I was going to say ended my sentence with "daft." But then I thought about it. . .daft sounds so much better than stupid.
3. Zebra- I like zebra so much better than our zeeeeebra. However, I am sure that I will intermix the two in the end.
4. Dave said "Ta" the other day to a bus driver. . .meaning thanks. . .however I am pretty sure I will never say that.
5. Mummy- I love mummy and I will encourage Jaye to continue to say it because it sounds so sweet.
6. Biscuit- I am not sure if this will be overtaken by cookie again but for right now Jaye says it a lot so I might just continue.
7. Phoned- I just realized that in my previous blog I wrote that I phoned a doctor instead of called. . .well I guess that one is going home.
8. Half Nine- instead of 9:30 people here say half nine or half ten . . I like that but it may be odd for those that are asking what time it is in the U.S. I know I will not be using military time any longer. . .I am not keen on that!
9. Wee one- I like wee, but I don't use it here anyhow so maybe I will just use it when I talk to my sweet babies for fun.
10. New Nursery Rhymes and New twists on oldies- Row Row Row the Boat has some new verses that I didn't know and I love them. . .you can row down the lake, along the shore, and in the river.
So I am sure I will think of more, but this is where I will stop for now.
