Last week we started "Toddler Boot Camp" with Jaye. I had periodically been putting Jaye down for nap in her trundel bed, but thought it was time to try out the top twin size bed at nights. This would have been all I started on last Monday, but at the play group we attend Jayelle watched a couple kids go and use the potty and she came up to me and asked if she could go to. So on that clue I decided I had to get serious about potty training too. On top of all that Jayelle was teething her first two year old molar. She has not cut any teeth for over a year so it was a bit painful for the sweet girl. So on Monday we started big girl bed, potty training and teething. The big girl bed is going great! The first night she did figure out she could get out of bed. Dave and I had to put her back to bed about 5 times. The first time she ran out into the living room and said very excitedly "Hi!" The next few times she would open her door and sit at the edge of the room to the hall waiting quietly for one of us to catch her and the final time she realized that she had a night light and that was pretty cool. Dave and I had a hard time not laughing and smiling with her in this new experience. Potty training has had it's ups and downs. She is dry through the night (every night), but sometimes we have accidents because playing with toys or reading books or whatever else is so much more fun than taking time out to use the potty. All in all I am keeping of the mind frame to continue this potty training business, and just know it is going to take some time before it all clicks for her. Here is a picture of Jayelle in her big girl bed.
