Baby Number Two Update

I had a midwife appointment yesterday.  After a ton of questions on medical history, the midwife took my blood to test for a list of things.  Then I got to hear the baby's heartbeat.  The heartbeat was approximently 140bpm.  I love hearing the sound of the heartbeat! The sound makes me so happy each time! I am not sure if I meet with the general practioner or the midwife next time, but I think it is the 20 week ultrasound scan and midwife visit.  The General Practioner and midwife share pregnancy care visits. If it is the scan then we will get to see the baby again and this time get to know the sex of the baby for real!  Yea! There are differences in medical visits from the states. A couple of things I can think of are: each visit in the states I had to give a urine sample and get my weight checked.  Another difference is the OBGyn would check the size of my belly each time.  Something different as well is that in the states pregnant women are suggested to take prenatal vitamins and folic acid through their pregancy as well as through breastfeeding, whereas in Scotland pregnant women are reccomended to take vitamins and folic acid only through the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. I am really going to have to do research to decided what medical decisions I make along the way.  I have been reading a lot about labor and delivery options lately.  Right now I am planning on having a medication free labor and delivery.  I am mostly making this decision based on how my recovery went after Jayelle's delivery, but more research is required.

Yeah for baby! 140 heartbeat this early...doesn't the myth say that it's a boy? That is to signs! You can do a med free birth. Don't let anyone, including yourself, tell you otherwise! I love you!
