One more wild turn and dive on the Rollercoaster of Life.
Erin and I had a great day yesterday. We spent the morning at the Grotto reading Scripture, praying, and just talking about what God is doing in our lives. We talked about how He will provide for us in ways we can't imagine and how God has done this throughout the Bible, in other people's lives, and in our own. Then we went to a movie (finished off gift cards before the big trip) and had some good laughs. Then we picked up Jaye and had a great family dinner.
We did all this to take a break from the garage sales, DJ gigs, two days of cleaning grandpa's roof, and before packing and moving this week.
Back to the restful day. We drove in our 2008 Kia Spectra5 from Clackamas Town Center to our apartment (all of 1/2 mile maybe), I noticed something strange when I turned the AC but nothing seemed all that weird because it worked and the car was running great. We parked in our covered spot, I notice smoke coming out from the wheels and I thought I just drove with the emergency brake on the whole time, but then the smoke got worse. I then popped the hood & jumped out to see what was going on, I went to unlatch the hood but it was really hot. I looked under the hood and all I saw was flames. I told Erin to get out of the car, she had Jaye out of her carseat in seconds, ran away and called the fire department. I ran to my neighbors house to tell them to get out because I didn't know how bad this could get. My neighbor jumped out with a fire extinguisher and I used the little thing to stop what could potentially take out the whole carport. It worked for 5 seconds and stopped the flames, but it kept burning.
While we watched our beloved car burn, a car we were selling for money for our mission, I realized our stroller, pack N play, and highchair were in the back of the car. I ran over and got all that out. Then I realized my beloved, marked up Bible and my John Calvin Institutes was in there as well, so I got them. (OK I know this is stupid, but at least I know I would be willing to run to a burning car to save someone maybe.)
Another neighbor came up to be later after the fire department arrived and said this could be a work of Satan. I said that is a possibility, but his could also be a work of God for the best. I guess we will see.
I will post some pictures later.
